Listeria In Food Processing Plants
How To Control Listeria In Food Processing Plants
Having trouble with Listeria in food processing plants. When it comes to processing, preparing and manufacturing foods safely, plant managers understand the importance of diligent cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing. Keeping an entire processing plant clean not only requires specific tools and procedures, but the proper understanding of how to eliminate food-borne pathogens and keep them under control.
By educating cleaning staff about these various pathogens and how to properly clean to control them, managers can have confidence that their food and customers will be safe. Today there are new ways to help control Listeria and Salmonella in Food Processing Plant. Much research has been done on disinfecting both Listeria and Salmonella with a blue wavelength of 405-470nm.

Abstract on Listeria
The antimicrobial properties of light is an area of increasing interest. This study investigates the sensitivity of the significant foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes to selected wavelengths of visible light. Results demonstrate that exposure to wavelength region 400–450 nm, at sufficiently high dose levels (750 J cm−2), induced complete inactivation of a 5 log10 population.
Now We Have Available NSF Food Grade Bacteria Killing Light Fixtures that you can hang in your plant and help disinfect your floors, equipment, surfaces and any other place where these bacteria hide.
We also have other Bacteria Killing lights that you can add to your existing arsenal of bacteria killing products. Our lights work even when no one is there. Put them to work 24/7 and let them go.
Help Keep Your Employees Safe and Your Products Free from these lethal bacteria.
Listeria: A lethal liability
While there are many different kinds of pathogens that affect the food manufacturing industry, one of the most dangerous food-borne pathogens that exists today is Listeria – a bacterium that when present in foods, yields no difference in taste, smell or appearance. Listeria is the cause of the illness listeriosis. Nearly everyone infected with listeriosis is hospitalized, while one in five people or 20 percent will die from the disease.
Plant closings can cost thousands to millions of dollars in lost time, decreased productivity and reputation damage. In addition to those losses there may be fines and litigation costs that can be even larger.
Research has proven that our Blue Lights in the proper wavelengths can kill both Salmonella and Listeria.
Did You Know?
Firemen and EMS workers are now using Blue Bacteria Killing light to kill another big bacteria that is on everyone mind MRSA. Blue Light in the same wave length also kills MRSA, Staph, Strep, Cdiff and more.
